It may seem unusual for an Austrian Notgeld to be on a Czech Republic Page, but here are the facts. At the beginning of 1919, Reichenberg was part of Austria. However, after WWI, Reichenberg became a part of Czechoslovakia. WWII came along, and the Germanic people of Czechoslovakia were annexed into Greater Germany - Bohemia-Moravia. After the war, Reichenberg was again in Czechoslovakia. The Czechoslovakian dissolution in 1993, came about peacefully, Reichenberg then found itself in the new Czech Republic. So many of the people of Reichenberg have been subjects of four different governments in their lifetimes ... without leaving their community. Therefore, the Austrian Banknote (Notgeld) is with the people who used it.
